They will then place a cheek retractor in your mouth and barrier your gums with a liquid dam to prevent the whitening gel from getting onto your soft tissue or any sensitive areas of the teeth.

The teeth whitening gel is then applied and an LED light is used to activate the gel. The gel will break down into molecules that attach to the stain molecules in the teeth and remove them. This process will return your teeth to your natural enamel shade prior to staining. You can do anywhere from 30-60 minutes of teeth whitening, we usually recommend a 45 minute session for your first experience. 

At the end, your dental hygienist will take everything out and check the final shade. They will then apply a desensitizing treatment that will help with any sensitivity if any occurs during the treatment. You can expect your teeth to go on average 4-8 shades lighter than the shade they started at. 

What to avoid after teeth whitening at Pearl?

Refrain from consuming dark-coloured foods and beverages such as coffee, tea,red wine,berries,tomato sauce, soy sauce and dark sodas for at least 24-48 hours after teeth whitening at Pearl. Acidic foods and drinks like citrus fruits and juices, vinegar-based dressings, and soda can weaken your enamel, making your teeth more susceptible to staining. 

Avoid smoking or using any tobacco products as they can quickly stain your teeth and reverse the whitening process. This may sound shocking, but avoid using whitening toothpaste as it is abrasive and can cause sensitivity. Opt for a gentle, non- abrasive toothpaste such as Pronamel or Colgate.
